End of Year Campaign

Thank you for being a friend of Jubilee Theatre. Because of our faithful patrons and donors, we came through the Covid shutdown in relatively good shape. As we launch our 41st season, we hope you know how much we appreciate you.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, we were unable to produce live shows in our intimate theatre space at 506 Main Street for most of our 40th Anniversary season. When we did open our space, audiences were thin. And the response to our streaming was not as robust as we’d hoped.

But we haven’t been resting. Thanks to our very creative staff of Wambui Richardson, Artistic Director, and Christie Howard, Managing Director, Jubilee has marched bravely into the future. As soon as we were able to bring a small cadre of artists into the theatre, we tested the waters with live productions and had a successful run of Southern Boys at the Bass Hall. We implemented strict Covid protocols that worked – we had no instances of the illness in any of our cast or crew.

Our 41st season began with a full production of Fabulation on stage. We’ll host A Phunk Dr.’s Christmas, a variety special, in-person for one weekend and then streaming through the holidays so you’ll be able to enjoy the song, dance, and joy of the season. (We may even bring back some of your favorite old-time Jubilee artists for special guest appearances!) In the new year, audiences will enjoy Lil & Satchmo, a play with music, the musical Over Forty, an African folktale If Pretty Hurts… We’ll end the season with Dreamgirls, an exciting step.

With the Covid-related reduction in ticket revenue, we especially need your help this year. Even when we can’t sell our full number of seats, our fixed costs go on – rent, utilities, maintenance, staff salaries, and more. We have cut expenses to a bare minimum, and are working hard to keep Jubilee alive and well.

We’re asking you to please consider a generous year-end gift to help us. If you can make a gift before Dec. 31, it will be tax-deductible as usual. And it will help keep this valued Fort Worth institution alive and well far into the future!

So please, if you can, help Jubilee celebrate 41 wonderful years.
